It's been quite a while. However, looking at the date of last post, it's been almost a month! Time does fly!!!Very very busy lately. Busy reading books to write review on paintings. Busy doing research to reply to the art history forum. En.Safrizal has been giving a lot of wwritten assignments. Just completed all, but tomorrow will be one coming; normally more than one question, 3 or 4 is the norm. Did not do much drawing. The past few weeks was learning some techniques for graphic work; rendiering using pastel, pastel and thinner on tracing paper, pastel on sugar paper etc. Not to my liking, but have to do anyway.
Exam is near. Next month, first week exam starts. Not yet preparing for it. Assignment is keeping us all very busy. The interview article is to be rewritten and send on Thursday. Today is Tuesday. It is the 5th rewrite. Don't tell you what they want at one go, one week one demand. Aiaiai. I dislike this course, but there is no other choice. It will be the greatest relief to finish the module, just for the sake of finishing it.
The marathon drawing 2009 is held in USM from the 5th-7th Oct, so our lecturer En.Sharul is too busy to attend to us, we are free to do anything except his assigned drawing lesson. Everyone is waiting for the last minute to hand in. The 2D lecturer, En.Khizal is giving 2 more assignments, on is colour wheel, one is painting using both warm and cool colour. The first one is easy, should be able to finish in a few hours. Acrylic is difficult to mix.
Not familiar with Penang's road yet, when Jin came, could not take him to the restaurant that I wanted to, instead ended up in Gurney Plaza.
These two days, learn quite a bit about Wassily Kandinsky(1866-1944), a Russian artist who was credited with painting the first abstract art. He believed that there is a link between music and art. He used names like "composition", "Improvision" and "Ensemble" for the titles of his paintings. Or else, he'll be using names like "yellow-red-blue", "White strokes", "red oval", colours to him is symbolical, it is also like music, it "klang"(sound and resonance) with the inner feeling of the artist and the spectator. Art can be without a subject, that is, it is nonrepresentational. He used geometrical forms and lines to symbolise his emotion and spiritual conviction. A lawyer by profession who turned to become artist when he was 30. Very scientific in his art theories. One of the prominent figures of the Blue Rider in Bahaus in Germany.
Will show the latest art drawing lesson using the pot and tiffin pan at home.
This is my art appreciation lecturer, En.Tengku.
